Probably, because the leading zeros are strictly speaking not correct. They are ordinal numbers, as @what mentioned, and ordinal numbers do not have leading zeros. They got added to avoid fraud. Especially in hand-written letters (last will) the date can be manipulated if you do not add the zeros.

Ideas cannot be copyrighted. I think in its heart this is a dupe of: writers.stackexchange.com/questions/3928/… - @Monica: I doubt that the OP wants to write fan-fiction.

comment What editing can I expect for a translation of a previously-published story?
Honestly, I wouldn't be shocked at all. And readers will find discrepancies no matter what, because every translation is like every other work of fiction: it will not suit all people.

I do not understand this question. Why do you think they treat this submission differently from the others they get? Do you think they want the original version and translate it themselves? Would they waste their time for that? Do they understand Hebrew? Are they capable matching it to the original? If the story is good, why should they care if it is close to the original one? And if the story isn't good, they for sure do not care.

Feel free to contact the publisher, there is no shame in it. The "normal timeline" is probably defined in your contract. Have you read it?

revised When should modifiers be avoided?
Thanks guys, for cleaning up, but dashes are no hyphens. And for real dashes: either n with space or m without.
