How to get over writer's block related to revising? I mostly write fiction, so I'm not that into the structure of academic papers, unfortunately. I guess a google search like 'structure of non fiction text' would provide som useful hits. When you have that, just keep free-writing, and the material will sort itself out in a logical structure (at least that is what it does for me). Keep writing, and you'll often get a 'vision' for what goes where. |

How to get over writer's block related to revising? Use Scrivener for text editing if you don't already. It is an excellent text editor that lets you move text around with great ease. |

Websites that offer book/movie/story analyses useful for writers? Something like SparkNotes was exactly what I was after! Preferably with more books, though. |

Any documentaries or other inspirational movies about creative writing? "Adaptation" is by far the best and most inspirational movie about writing I have seen so far |

What is the process for turning a story into a “movie” script? I think the movie "Adaptation" will answer you question. |

Any documentaries or other inspirational movies about creative writing? This movie contained the biggest violation of Tjekovs gun I have ever witnessed: the pearl necklace. Would not recommend this film, unless you want to learn how not to do things (movie script-wise). |

Any documentaries or other inspirational movies about creative writing? It struck me that a lot of DVD releases of movies have bonus features that sometimes include comments or documentaries about the writing process. The extended version of The Lord of the Rings have some nice features about the script. |

Is discovery or outline writing connected to personality type (e.g. MBTI) Very interesting. After thinking about this for a bit, it also struck me that the E/I part probably has some influence on the discovery/outline style as well, since E's tend to "think by speaking", whereas I's usually do their thinking before they open their mouths/notebooks/word processors |

What is a good daily word count goal? Yup, that is a good tip. I use it myself when programming at work: if a leave "fun" part of coding which I know how to get started on, it's much easier to get going the next day. |

Are there jobs that involve creative writing in the software industry? Not when you are working on large systems, designed by others, with loads of legacy code you need to fit into, and constantly waiting for clarification from customers. At least not the level of creativity and speed of creativity I'm after :) |

Where can subject matter experts volunteer to work on proofing the technical details in fiction? I think offering your services to the CSI screenwriters would be a great place to start: youtube.com/watch?v=hkDD03yeLnU |

What to do about readers reading into things? Have you considered the possibility that you unconsciously have modeled some characters after people you know? After all, inspiration is usually based on what we observe around us, and it might be that the mental model you have of a certain personality, actually comes from someone close to you. At the time of writing though, it appears as a thought that just pops into your head, and so you make no conscious connection to the source of inspiration. |

What techniques are used to plot long (multi-novel) story arcs? Not to mention Heroes. Now that series had more loose ties than a men's formal wear factory after a grenade attack. |

What helpful writing exercises do you use? I read about an exercise for writing poetry that extends this: Write down the word or theme for your poem. Then write down all the words you associate with this. No go ahead and write your poem WITHOUT using any of the associated words. |
