comment What are the usual methods for getting a daily word count?
@blueberryfields I don't worry too much about the minutiae of the word counting. Revising can take a lot longer than writing for a lot lower word count, so it's hardly the same scale.

Voting to close as "Not a Real Question".

comment How to overcome the fact that I can't write?
@Jakub I don't think that is an appropriate topic for this site; it would be subjective and argumentative.

comment How to make travel scenes interesting without adding needless plot diversions?
This is essentially true of every scene in the story. If there's no conflict, there's no scene.

Duplicate but I can't find the link on my phone.

comment Is there a resource where I could find myself a checker and critic, or check somebodies else text to exercise?
+1 Just for knowing how to use the word "comprise" properly.

comment How to make travel scenes interesting without adding needless plot diversions?
I felt more and more like this is an unanswerable question as I wrote it, but I still want to see what ideas you guys have.

comment Fictional diary for a novel
I personally hate any book written this way. Dracula by Bram Stoker and Carrie by Stephen King are two examples of popular books written this way, but I hated them both.

comment What books should I read before writing a non-humanoid point of view story?
Off topic. We're not a book recommendation service. We're a community of writers.

comment How do you deal with procrastination when writing?
Seconded this is a duplicate.

comment When should one *not* present events in chronological order?
Just reading that Vonnegut quote out of context, I would say that it's actually a generic quote and not something specific to writing a non-linear narrative. It's akin to "don't use unnecessary exposition," but just said more cleverly.

comment How to go about breaking up a looooong YA story?
At least on Gaming, we like to write things out unless they must be abbreviated to fit into the tag length limit. It just makes everything more readable.

comment How to go about breaking up a looooong YA story?
Is there any reason to abbreviate the tag to "ya" when "young-adult" fits so easily?

It was a friend's private wiki so I was not the administrator. All I can vouch for is its usefulness.

comment Initial Writing Medium
@FoxCutter Agreed. I recently fell into a rut while writing and I found that sitting down with a pad and a pencil helped me refocus.

comment How to name the characters of your story?
To add to this, you could always draw a couple letters out of your scrabble bag and jumble them around until you find something worthwhile.

comment How to switch pov characters mid-scene without jarring the reader?
Usually if I massage the words enough I can get it to be how you described. Just like you said, I want the reader to not realize he's in someone else's head until after the fact. I will try this out if the opportunity presents itself.

I'm not entirely sure that this is a "doomed" technique...

comment Spelling style in academic papers
Seconded, as a native speaker of American English I don't even know how to write in British English. I know a few differences here and there but I would surely miss some, and it's better to be consistent throughout your paper by writing entirely in one dialect.

comment What are good criteria to consider when looking to enroll in an MFA program?
I know that someone who would know the answer to this would know what MFA stands for, but perhaps you could expand it for the sake of those of us who would like to learn.
