How do I get involved in writing for video games? How do I get involved in eating cake? (I don't like buying it, and I don't know how to bake it, but I want to become a professional eater) |

When to accept an editor's rewrite request? I think it really boils down to: who understands the story and it's audience better, you or your editor? (Unfortunately, that's not an easy question either). |

I have written my first novel and I think it's ready. What next? Warning: make sure you know exactly what an agent does before hiring an agent. some writers don't need one, and many agents are useless (or worse). Please don't just trust me on this, read bestselling authors' advice, like this one: deanwesleysmith.com/?p=720 |

Is there any hope of a fictional short story being published? Aside: consider using short stories to get your name out there and gain a few fans for when you release a book (a novel or even a new short story collection). Getting your story in front of the most people is more important than the most prestigious or best-paying periodical. |

Is there any hope of a fictional short story being published? You can also submit to Escape Pod, which will make you a lot more famous (much bigger "customer" base than any magazines) but they do usually run stuff that's already appeared elsewhere (reputable online or print magazine) so those may be your best bet. |

Tools for generating characters' names Wow, this is a cool idea. Anyone want the "web-enable:" it? |

Podcasts useful for improving writing skills I enjoyed the episode I tried of this one, though I don't listen regularly because it went on a bit long and didn't seem very structured (seemed like about 20 mins of content stretched out to an hour). |
