Fictional diary for a novel I agree with @Strix's comment on the question with one exception; Flowers for Algernon. Thanks for reminding me about that classic, @neilfein, definitely gotta reread that sometime soon. |

Where is the best place to “twist” a series? I agree completely with this. Hint at it fairly heavily throughout the first book without potentially giving it away; when it becomes clear in the second book, a reader (or at least a reader like me) will be totally pumped and wanting to read more. |

What helpful writing exercises do you use? If the last sentence was rephrased as a question, would it be acceptable? |

What to do about readers reading into things? "The idea that the intent of the author doesn't matter personally bothers me." +1 for that. None of the people in my life seem to think author's intent is worth a damn. |

How to go about breaking up a looooong YA story? Yeah, that's a better way to phrase it. I'll edit my answer to make it more clear. |

How do you track random thoughts and ideas? I agree, this isn't really a duplicate. This is a more practical question (i.e. "how can I physically record these ideas") whereas the aforementioned question is more abstract (i.e. "what can I do with ideas to make them into stories"). |
