I like big books and I cannot lie.

comment When does repetition start becoming tedious (especially metaphors)?
On the other hand, similes make it sound more like you are speaking to a real person. Metaphors can very quickly push you into purple prose territory.

comment How to deal with common Earth references in a non-Earth setting?
I regret being able to vote down only once. -1 because this was unnecessarily rude and judgmental, -1 because I am actually not a native English speaker, -1 because this doesn't answer the question in any way, -1 because "find an answer yourself, lazy bum" is almost never an appropriate SE answer, and -1 because putting it in the community wiki gives a bad image of this SE.

@LaurenIpsum I thought similes/metaphors were a kind of analogy. As for the second sentence, the idea was that the outside welcomed her in a cold way, not that she didn't welcome the cold. Maybe being "welcomed by cold air" doesn't make sense in English.

Also, Ten seems to often be unrelated to Ki and Shou, until Ketsu unifies the whole thing

comment How to travel in a government restricted setting?
@NeilFein It seems that the OP is not asking about what to write, and already has a plot and setting and all. The issue is more about how to deal with a specific plot hole - whether that is on topic or not is debatable though.
