Is there any tool which points out the common mistakes in a piece of writing? I turn this on to check things, but use judgment to "ignore" most of the suggestions. It's not great, but once in awhile it catches something I've missed. |

Can I release material related to a work and maintain my rights before publishing? Is this material you own copyright for? |

Is the iPad a convenient medium for writing work? Agree. laptops tend to be small and underpowered, with similar battery life, or larger and no batter. Laptops are also not always convenient on the go. I use the iPad in places where I'd never pull out a laptop. |

Waiting for response to full MS Excellent point about things being lost. you never know if an email arrives until someone responds. |

How long can a writer expect to write before publishing his/her first novel? Are you asking for fiction? Or something else? I think there are different ways to publish. |

I have written my first novel and I think it's ready. What next? Good comments. I'd think the interest in another novel, or in your writing, might help you get another deal. I think publishing is changing as well, and what used to be the rule, might not be the rule anymore. |

Self Editing tips/tricks Do you mean read the words backwards or read the last sentence, then the next to last, etc.? |

How to name the characters of your story? I've believed this about many logos/titles/names in the past. If it's good, then it's fine. If it's not a good company/product/story, it doesn't matter what it is named. |

How to overcome the fact that I can't write? I'm not sure I completely agree, but you can definitely get better at your craft with practice, and revision. |

How to vary writing style? I like this, though I caution you on writing too much as you speak. It will read funny as well. There's a balance needed. |

Writing discipline Interesting. What do you do during the 2 minutes? Is there a timer involved? |

Writing discipline I often go to a Starbucks/Borders/B&N, get a cup of coffee, sometimes use headphones, but just be around white noise of people and then go heads down. |

Writing discipline I think this is great. Build a habit and structure. I tend to write after lunch for my job. Get admin stuff done early, write in the afternoon. |

Self Editing tips/tricks Thanks, if I can get more than 2 days ahead, I have tried this and it has helped. |

Self Editing tips/tricks The schedule prevents me from getting timely feedback from others. Also, it's a burden on others, so I was hoping for other ideas. The self recording is interesting. |

Self Editing tips/tricks Nice idea, I'll try this. I do a podcast as well, so I "re-read" this on a teleprompter twice (practice/live) and that has helped. |
