I suck at plots. Is there a way to sort of train oneself to think of creative plots, specifically in scifi? I wish I could just write something, it seems like it would be more fun that way (like reading a book, but writing it), but alas, no, I can't. Thanks for helping. |

I suck at plots. Is there a way to sort of train oneself to think of creative plots, specifically in scifi? I came up with a pretty good idea, backstory, for the plot, posited as a what-if: what if corporations bought stock of people? the main character would be one of such people. I figured that the plot would have something to do with the implications of such a misfortune. The problem is, I can't figure out what the impact of buying stock of a person would be, specifically on the person. can you guys help? |

How do you connect a non sequitur hook to a novel? can you give advice or a link to advice on writing hooks? a lot of the things I have found are too vague to be of any use |

How do you connect a non sequitur hook to a novel? thanks, I didn't realize that the narrator was having a voice. you made me realize that I was making this first person...it doesn't belong because I'm writing the novel in third person: good catch |

Is it okay to attempt to write in the style of another person, and how is that done well? (love the name) I liked his humor, I liked the concepts like the Metaverse, harpooning Kouriers, CosaNotra Pizza, etc. Especially the Metaverse. (I'm a programmer as well as a reader, so it really resonated with me.) I have trouble writing humorously. Any tips/books on how to write good humor? Thanks |
