A gestalt of some convenient combinations:
Genre-hopping author and editoral intern. Swimmer and cooking obsessive. Lover of dark characters, fortunately able to rescue melodrama with dry dialogue.
And some rather less convenient ones:
Snooty and natural redhead. Lover of Korean bubblegum pop; shockingly ungraceful dancer. Likes sleep, but likes Pepsi more.
Pleased to meet you.

Should a flashback be in past tense or past perfect? If you're not going to use italics, you treat it as a separate scene and make it clear that you're going back in time to something. Or you simply "narrate" your memory without using the flashback device (be careful to slide this in at an appropriate time so it doesn't look like an info-dump). |

answered | I have compiled a poetry book with poems of 4chan users. It has a lot of racial slurs and vulgarisms, is it possible to publish something like that? |

What is the recomended word-count for a fantasy-fiction book? Your main conflict needs to start on the first page too (conflict and arc are similar). 60k is half the total word limit we're talking here--you can't have half a novel before you get to the point of your story :) |

What is the recomended word-count for a fantasy-fiction book? Oops...didn't mean to press enter! But dude, your main arc starts ON THE FIRST PAGE. Your main arc is your hook, and your reader wants to know what it is in order to keep turning those pages. World-building and plot should hold hands, should happen together. If you have 60k without that arc, that's 60k which is irrelevant to the story you set out to tell here. |
