I’m an aspiring fiction writer with experience in marketing writing, scientific copyediting, technical writing, and journalism. I believe in the Harvard comma, split infinitives, and sentences ending in prepositions.
In 2010 I was a slush reader for Flash Me Magazine. My flash story “The Demon’s Tomb” appeared in volume 2 of The Crimson Pact.
Despite growing up near the science-fictional setting of Johnson Space Center, fantasy has always been my favorite genre. I now live in central Illinois.

Motivation Reaction Units? Pointless scenes that don't do enough to advance the plot. Some writers can get away with, and some readers will tolerate, scenes that exist solely for character development or world building. I find it much more interesting to read a conversation where the characters are disagreeing with each other than several pages of everyone sitting around drinking tea, being happy, and having no problems. |

Good Outlining Solutions For OSX? Wow. That program looks awesome. I'm not sure if I want to add another program to my Evernote and Scrivener workflow, but when you mentioned using it instead of a wiki a light bulb went off over my head. I'm going to have to try it for things like story bibles or researching topics that might not be tied to a particular project. |
