I had a long winded post here about how much of a techie I am, but I was reminded by an IT teacher that there are millions of people in the IT world that say they know everything about computers, and that their actual skill/knowledge is inversely proportional to how how much they brag. So, I'm newly humble. I do have a love of learning, and will forever be a student of IT.

My series would be 100k words per book for 5 books. I'm just wondering if I should raise the bar to have an 'epic' series.

I had heard that an 'epic' novel was around 100k words, but I'd rather hear from writers on the subject. Lauren looks like a more credible source than a typical yahoo commenter.

I'm using OpenOffice Writer, 1 inch margins, Times New Roman font, and the font size is 11.

I've been having colorful dreams on this topic. And yes, I am experiencing confusion. I used to be a wiccan for some years, but this new way of thinking gradually replaced that religion almost entirely.

Like how they are supposed to react in certain situations. Not only that, but what thoughts go through thier heads in those situations. I know I'm being vauge here but so was the question, lol

@Standback No, no, I like it. The title and the rewrite make more sense. Thank you for your support.

And Mindblade is a family name. He's never given a title before he encounters the wizard.

@Standback I can come up with all kinds of abilities, but the point is to counterbalance them with content of character. And yes, he seems invincible so far, and its as if everything just falls in his lap. But that's both a pitfall and a bonus.

Well, I've never read "Shadowrun". And for the beginning, he has a gaping void in his chest.

@justkt thank you for reopening the question, but didn't you say pros and cons were too "discussiony"?

@KateSherwood I accept your ideas and am revamping the question based on yours and jusktk's comments.

@justkt - Ok, so you are saying it's a better idea to refer to myself instead of putting the idea in an open perspective?
