I had a long winded post here about how much of a techie I am, but I was reminded by an IT teacher that there are millions of people in the IT world that say they know everything about computers, and that their actual skill/knowledge is inversely proportional to how how much they brag. So, I'm newly humble. I do have a love of learning, and will forever be a student of IT.

How do I round out a powerful character? And Mindblade is a family name. He's never given a title before he encounters the wizard. |

How do I round out a powerful character? @Standback I can come up with all kinds of abilities, but the point is to counterbalance them with content of character. And yes, he seems invincible so far, and its as if everything just falls in his lap. But that's both a pitfall and a bonus. |

How do I round out a powerful character? Well, I've never read "Shadowrun". And for the beginning, he has a gaping void in his chest. |

How much outlining should I use in writing my book? @justkt thank you for reopening the question, but didn't you say pros and cons were too "discussiony"? |

Why should I try to create realistic fantasy characters? Obviously. Ok, ok. I concede. It does have to make some kind of sense to be interesting, I agree. Maybe I took it a bit too far, but I still believe in purity in my fantasy. Real girls just cheat on you... |

Why should I try to create realistic fantasy characters? Yes, it is jarring to have something happen that wouldn't make any sense. But pure fantasy shouldn't have to make sense by realistic rules. A fake reality should have fake rules. Maybe I want to eat 1000 cupcakes in under 20 seconds and still be hungry. Maybe I want my girlfriend to be made out a solid block of ice but still be coherent. Maybe I want Sarah Palin to be president? |
