comment Can a title be copyrighted?
Wait a minute. As I have understood it, copyright and trademark law are two very distinct things. You seem to be mixing the two. What gives?

comment Is it appropriate to list my website as the publisher of my stories?
For how to register a domain name, you may want to try on Webmasters.SE. However, the easy answer to that is to just contact a web hosting company in your country and tell them that you want a web hosting account and a domain name associated with it. Do ask around about prices since they can vary wildly between service providers, and ask about prices before you provide any particulars (the risk of domain squatting is small, but non-zero). And make sure that the domain name ownership is in your name, not that of the web hosting provider.

@PaulA.Clayton I took the liberty of adding that to my answer and crediting you as well as Monica Cellio.

@celtschk I feel fairly certain that VeriSign are reputable in that regard. And I still get No match for "JAVEER-BAKER.COM"..

@SnookerFan I just know how many times I've gone back to change things even in hobby writing because some things worked out poorly in the end, and sometimes that involves making changes to pretty basic elements of the world. Even if you end up not needing that possibility, it's always good to have options.

+1 for the suggestion to make a web page instead. Even if you do nothing else, you can put links to places to purchase your other short stories there! And do register a nice domain name for it. A domain name and hosting is a small expense, especially in comparison to the more professional "feel" of example.com than example.net/~meauthor. It is also trivial then to move your web site between ISPs as their offerings and your needs change.

comment Punctuating dialogue with oneself
You say "thoughts", but both examples as well as your specific question are about something the character says. At least to my mind, the two are different (though you could use the same style for both). Which are you referring to? (Also, I don't really see what this has to do with punctuation, but that could be just me...)

comment Do short stories have to be of a particular length?
I don't know how representative I am of the greater population, but I tend to pay a lot of attention to reviews.

"Would you pay $0.99 or only $0.49" I would rather pay $1 for a ten-page good story than a 30-page bad story. Quality is much harder to measure objectively, but if a short "short story" has good reviews that make it sound interesting, I'd gladly pay $1 (if Amazon or whoever lets me, which is another issue entirely). If it has poor reviews that point out issues I'd likely agree with, it's doubtful I'd pay $0.50 regardless of the story's length.
