I'm a technical writer at Tecplot, Inc., makers of fine data visualization software for aerospace/CFD, oil and gas exploration, and general scientific/engineering uses. Python is my Swiss Army Knife of choice. I use it to help build and validate our documentation and help, among other things. I also have some proficiency with HTML, XML, AppleScript, C#, C, and if anyone ever has a question about 6502 assembly language, I'm your man. :-)

comment How do I find a ghostwriter for a series of books?
For you to be able to get a ghostwriter interested in revenue sharing, you must first be able to convince them that there will be revenue to share.

comment think, I think, I don't think
One would think that the recipient of such contradictory advice, being a writer himself or herself, would understand that these are indeed personal preferences, and value conciseness over verbosity. I will admit, however, that this approach is nearly mandatory when communicating with one's superiors in a corporate setting... :-)

comment Demo data in screenshots! What are the best practice?
For the field "Title" (as part of a name) why not show "Her Majesty Elizabeth the Second, by the Grace of God, of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and of Her other Realms and Territories, Queen, Head of the Commonwealth, Defender of the Faith"?

Microsoft actually has a whole stable of domain names and Web sites for use in their documentation, which they own and control. Consider doing something like this if it will add value to your documentation.

comment think, I think, I don't think
If a writer can't take robust criticism, they are in the wrong line of work, because once they start interacting with agents, publishers, and clients, they will get almost nothing but. Whoops, I meant, "In my opinion, they might consider a different career..."

comment What does active voice mean?
The question I was answering was whether laid or lying was correct. Oh, sorry, I see that you were using "laid" not "were laid" -- I read your previous comment too quickly. You're correct, and I deleted my previous comment.
