comment How should I format a non fiction book with Scrivener?
John, do you mean something like the "Header" formatting that Word offers? Cause I couldn't find anything similar in Scrivener.

comment Is there any merit to the term “Mary Sue”?
How about this question be rewritten as: 'Should I worry about creating a Mary Sue when I create strong character? How can I have a strong character, without it being dismissed as a Mary Sue?" Joe, if you agree, please rewrite the question

comment Does using version control system make backups unnecessary?
Agree with Peter. What guarantee do you have that your backup device won't fail? At some point, you have to trust something. You can have backups of backups, store your work on three different online services, but then, when will you have time to write?

comment Killing off a character: deciding if, when and how
There is a third reason: To add Wangst to the story. As we know, 'True Art is Dark'. (If you don't what these terms mean, checkout Tv Tropes)

comment How many errors per page volume is typically “okay” in a book?
True. Most readers who are also writers, can't take off their critique hat long enough to review a book properly. They will always find a fault, and usually end the review with "...a good editor could have fixed that". Good editor meaning themselves, of course. So yeah, can't avoid the "critics"

comment Problems with character development?
I found Create a Character clinic by Holly Lisle quiet useful (although it's only available in eBook). It contains practical advice and worksheets, and you can just start working on it.

comment ISBN - is it possible to have one and a title before publishing?
@Michael Kjörling, true. And you have to buy ISBNs in batches of 10 (I think), so they aren't cheap either

comment What is the process for turning a story into a “movie” script?
Lol. All writers, including novelists, should really unionise. :)
