I suck at plots. Is there a way to sort of train oneself to think of creative plots, specifically in scifi? See this related question, this related question, and this related question. Also see this on some perspectives on how to start. |

Structure and characterization Welcome! Per our critique guidelines, can you edit this to ask a question? Writers is a question and answer site, so in order for us to give the best answers you need to provide a question. Thanks! |

Do these starting paragraphs make you want to keep reading? @M.Na'el - these are the guidelines. Right now this question is lacking just that - a focused, specific question. We are not a critique circle, but rather a Q&A site. We like answering questions. For places to get generic critiques see this question, this question, etc. |

Write about academic plans I have opened a meta question about this question and whether or not questions like it should be on-topic. |

Write about why XX is an intellectual fit for you This is far too localized. A better question would be to ask about how to write an essay (or short answer) for a graduate school in general. |

How do I keep up with current written English language? @Joshin - I agree with Rene. You make a very definitive statement without any support. The answer would be improved with support. Also, there are single places to find answers on the official version of some languages (France has such an organization, for example) and those languages are most certainly alive. |

How do I keep up with current written English language? This covers American English, your periodicals may vary for other dialects. |

Legality of Academic Ghostwriting I can see how this question would be of deep ethical interest to many writers. |

Does this beginning hook the reader? @M.Na'el - editing does bump up the body. More importantly, editing makes the older answers pretty obsolete. In the future I'd recommend opening a new question that references the old question with clarifications on what you incorporated. |

Ideal blog post size and frequency This is an extremely broad question. Can you narrow it down with at least a genre? There's going to be a difference depending on your aims, target audience, etc. Asking for an ideal blog post size and frequency is like asking for the ideal word count for a novel, any novel. |

Any native speaker please review my “statement of purpose” plz @Sarah - while this site does not allow proofreading, you can ask for other types of critiques that focus on specific questions about your writing. There are many examples under our critique tag. |

Article submission websites While this is likely on-topic here, Programmers may be a better place for the subject-matter expertise of what places accept technical articles and will plug your book in return. The answers you are likely to get here are more generalized, since our expertise is writing not programming. |

Dedicated micro website Is this question "Should I set up a website for my book?" or "How do I set up a website for my book?" If it's the latter, there is a better StackExchange site for that question and it would be off-topic here. Please clarify. Thanks! |

Is this potential strapline grammatical? No problem. Our FAQ and questions on Meta tagged FAQ cover on- and off-topic questions pretty well. When in doubt, ask about it on Meta! |

Is this potential strapline grammatical? Welcome! Grammar questions in general do not belong on this site, but on English.SE. They do not do proofreading, however. No StackExchange site offers proofreading to date. If you would like to ask where to find proofreaders, that would be on-topic here at Writers. |

What is a basic structure for writing an essay on the SAT or for an AP exam? Can you clarify this into a question? "Does this work" is rather vague. Does it serve what purpose? What kind of an essay are you talking about? Academic? Journalistic? Creative? |
