How can I put something in book format without “publishing” it? Good question on the purpose. The purpose is to have all the rhymes in one place for my friend to be able to read to said friend's kids, since right now they aren't, and ideally make it cute. But at the same time since I do think they are good I wouldn't want to mess with my efforts to get my friend to polish them up and shop them around. |

How can I put something in book format without “publishing” it? @NeilFein - it's a good idea, but one that I currently have neither time nor tools for, sadly. |

Is it legal to write about trademarked material and use the terms? Please note the standard disclaimer - advice on Writers is more opinion and less legal advice and, as far as I know, none of us are lawyers. |

Help creating an ebook Software tools are on-topic here if they are writing specific, so I'm not sure this is off-topic so much as ambiguous and needing clarification. |

LaTex vs. Word vs. etc @nikeunltd - at the moment you need to define what "taking your writing to the next level" means to you. Is it becoming better at writing a fictional plot? Is it enhancing your grammar? Is it getting your ideas written down faster? Is it having more flexibility with publishing formats? You need to add more detail. |

Help creating an ebook This question as it stands is rather ambiguous. What kind of help are you looking for? Tools? Prior experience? Other? Please edit the question and explain what you need. |

Will science fiction as a genre ever go the way of the western? It seems like fantasy would also fulfill the need to weave myths, though. You make a good point, however, that a belief in science as an answer-generating thing helps drive science fiction as a genre. |

Proof reading service Welcome. The occasional post that references, where it actually makes sense, your business is allowed, as long as that is not all you post here. Also you need to state your affiliation, as you've done. Thanks for following our guidelines! |

How does one include sign language in a dialogue? The main language versus occasional language point is key. Too many italics will clutter the page visually. |

Adding more characters as the story moves forwards +1 to "The prerequisite for using or breaking rules is understanding the rules." It's not that the rules can never be broken, it's that you have to know them to break them properly. |

Advice on choice of epigram Suitable and effective for what? It would help if you provided us your thesis and whether this epigram is supposed to support your thesis, oppose it, or merely be thought-provoking. |

How to further improve the flow and crispness in the essay? it is possible to modify an answer, but in the case of a site like writers if the information is constantly changing in the question all the answerers would have to come back to update their answers, there would be less incentive for new answers to be provided, etc. I recommend breaking the questions up. |

I cannot determine my Protagonist's work-life. Any help? Asking for subject matter expertise is off-topic for this site. Asking how to find it may be more on-topic, though. Answers should focus on how to get the expertise, not trying to provide a specific answer. |

How to further improve the flow and crispness in the essay? If you want further feedback on this essay, I'd consider a second question that references this one, since you have an accepted answer on this one, rather than an edit. |

Quality examples of 'in medias res' starting sequences in SF literature @NeilFein - I'd view it as on-topic in both places. The SE team has stated that they think it's a fine idea to have questions which are on-topic at two sites asked on both. |

Attributives in dialogue I have to say I'm with @FinalDraft on this one. "He said" and "she said" disappear into the text. Getting much more dramatic than that calls attention to the attributive and not the dialog, and so as a writer you'd better darned well mean it when you do that. |

Is writing a light read or “chick lit” a good option for an aspiring literary fiction author? @JohnSmithers - the point made by Daphna was valid insofar as there's no reason to be harsh in answering a question that has been asked in good faith. Any other comments about the tone of this can be taken to chat. |

I suck at plots. Is there a way to sort of train oneself to think of creative plots, specifically in scifi? Then see this question for places to find prompts to get your mind working. This question talks about how to go from idea to story. In addition to answers to this question, those should all help. |
