I'm an elected moderator on Mi Yodeya and The Workplace, and a pro-tempore mod here on Writers. I'm pretty active on the SE network.

Professionally, I'm a technical writer who works with (and often helps design) programming interfaces. I've written programming guides, tutorials, reference applications (runnable examples), reference documentation (for Java, C++, C, SOAP, and REST APIs), and even a little user documentation. I'd love to see more technical-writing questions here on Writers!

A word of warning: if you are interested in the Biblical Hermeneutics site, I urge you to consider these words from a non-Christian who went down that path. They want people to help build their site (which they say is non-religious), but they allow Christian evangelism and presumption, quite a bit of it. Learn from another's mistake. Hi Rob and thanks for this answer. I'm about to approve a suggested edit that removes your signature block, partly because Stack Exchange frowns on those in general and partly because it's promotional. You're welcome to quote from (and then cite) your book in answers here where that's relevant, and you can use your profile to advertise and link to your book, but it doesn't seem to fit here in this answer. Thanks for your understanding.

Right, but they're similar concepts -- in print you (essentially) have 600+ pixels per inch, while on a display you have way way less resolution. An image that will fit on a display will have much less room for artistic detail than one that fits on a printed page.

Well, at over $3k they didn't exactly take off immediately. :-) But I suppose I should have said "became widespread" rather than "hit the consumer market", as you're correct that they were available (if uncommon).

Friendly plug: this is a seed question for our genre contest, happening now.
