I'm an elected moderator on Mi Yodeya and The Workplace, and a pro-tempore mod here on Writers and on WorldBuilding. I'm pretty active on the SE network.

Professionally, I'm a technical writer who works with (and often helps design) programming interfaces. I've written programming guides, tutorials, reference applications (runnable examples), reference documentation (for Java, C++, C, SOAP, and REST APIs), and even a little user documentation. I'd love to see more technical-writing questions here on Writers!

A word of warning: if you are interested in the Biblical Hermeneutics site, I urge you to consider these words from a non-Christian who went down that path. They want people to help build their site (which they say is non-religious), but they allow Christian evangelism and presumption, quite a bit of it. Learn from another's mistake. Just checking -- you're talking about things like "I hab a code"?

comment How do I write a letter to a publisher?
Are age and occupation (if not directly relevant to the book topic) useful? They seem like noise to me. Similarly, I wouldn't point out that I've never published anything before if I haven't; I'd only list (relevant) prior publications. If publishers are anything like HR folks with big resume piles, you're going to get less than 30 seconds to catch their attention -- don't waste any of them on stuff that doesn't pique their interest.

comment Using LaTeX with publishers?
Can you say more about how to get from the LaTeX source to a format that publishers accept for editing (not the initial PDF)? Do you know anybody who's done that, or any publishers who've received submissions that way? Thanks.

On the other hand, if the norm for press releases is to have the contact info in a block at the end, this would violate that. (So maybe you do both? The contact info is usually for the recipient of the press release, not for publication, right?)

Can you say more about what you mean by a "creative article"? Do you mean something like an essay that uses clever word-play or unusual analogies or something like that? Thanks.

comment What is a normal length for a chapter?
Do you know that what you do is typical? The question asked what's usual for published works, not for advice on what to do. We try to keep answers focused on answering the question. You can edit to add to this answer. Thanks.

Are you asking about how to start writing the text, or about other stuff like identifying a market/publisher/etc that you're aiming for?
