I'm an elected moderator on Mi Yodeya and The Workplace, and a pro-tempore mod here on Writers and on WorldBuilding. I'm pretty active on the SE network.

Professionally, I'm a technical writer who works with (and often helps design) programming interfaces. I've written programming guides, tutorials, reference applications (runnable examples), reference documentation (for Java, C++, C, SOAP, and REST APIs), and even a little user documentation. I'd love to see more technical-writing questions here on Writers!

A word of warning: if you are interested in the Biblical Hermeneutics site, I urge you to consider these words from a non-Christian who went down that path. They want people to help build their site (which they say is non-religious), but they allow Christian evangelism and presumption, quite a bit of it. Learn from another's mistake. comment How do I build a better blog website?
This is pretty broad as written, and sounds like you're asking for a critique of your blog. Could you please edit to describe what you've done and what you think could be improved about it? Try to be more specific -- are your questions about styling, tagging, length of posts, how you manage comments, promotion, or what? I'm putting this on hold for now; after you edit it will go into a review queue for reopening.

comment Character in Macbeth that maintains integrity in position of power?
Hi Zander and welcome to Writers. As Lauren said, we're a Q&A site about writing, not about literary analysis or what to write. Once you figure out what you want to write about please do bring your questions about how to do it here. Please check out our short tour for an overview of how the site works. Thanks for understanding.

This is a well-asked question, laying out a spectrum of possible differences that seem significant to you. Thank you and welcome to the site.

Welcome to Writers. Can you be a little more specific? Small local police handling a burglary may have different procedures than NYC police investigating a terrorist event (pulling in DHS, FBI, etc).

@user96551 if you found one of the answers here to be particularly helpful, remember that you can mark it as accepted by clicking on the checkbox under the voting buttons. There is no requirement that you do so, but if your question has been answered, doing that signals that you're happy. It also gives the author of that answer some reputation.

comment Books on writing successful non-fiction
Also, this is likely to be closed as a list question. Instead of asking "where do I find books about X?" it's better to ask "X?". That is, what questions do you hope to answer by reading these books? Try asking those questions, and if there are key books you should be reading, an answer can bring that up.

comment Books on writing successful non-fiction
This is pretty broad. I suspect that the answer depends on whether your non-fiction is a biography, a history, a technical manual, a chemistry textbook, an analysis of Plato's philosophy, etc. Could you narrow this?

comment How to develop a more regal language
@NeilFein I think it's actually a better fit here, as the OP is asking about conveying speech patterns more than developing a whole dialect. This seems to me to fall more on the "writing" side of the line. That said, user96551, you might also look at Worldbuilding for guidance.

comment Directly quoting a source who also has a cited source
How does the source being quoted cite its source? (Inline or in a footnote?) And is there any particular style guide you're expected to follow (MLA, Chicago, etc)?

Are you asking how to write something like "if the player shoots at the big baddie then (scene description)"?

Yes, this. Nobility is an attitude born of privileged status; language is a consequence.
