comment Explicitly correcting yourself while writing - how appropriate is it ?
I was going to reply, but I realized everything I would have said was right here.

comment Fan Fiction: a crutch or a good start?
It's like writing practice, but the effort might be better spent writing an original story. I won't knock Fanfiction, I think it's awesome and there are a number of amazing stories told in other peoples worlds but I agree with the idea it's not quite the full experience.

comment Has this dialogue enough suspense to engage the reader?
Perfect. I can't imagine a better way to learn; write, get corrected and see a rewrite with the corrections explained to boot!

Thank you for teaching me what Swifties are, thoroughly enjoyed, and another agreement with Lynn.

Unless the writing benefits from that POV (establishing some characters thoughts or views on her crossing the room in some meaningful way) it's unnecessary, so definitely agreed.

comment What can I earn as a technical writer or technical editor?
Agreed, unless this exchange is about Writing and not Writers it seems to fit under the professional career end.

Google, the yellow pages, something like that would work wonders.

comment An alternative to saying 'users' when describing features
I like the idea, it does detract from the technical feel but gives it a much more creative and original feel. It'll come down to how the creator wants the writing to come off.

comment How much sex is allowed in a non-romance novel?
Definitely, it all depends on the story. A raunchy vivid sex scene can dominate the feel of an entire novel, which is successful if that's the point, but for your story, as far as you have described, seems like the scene is less important than that.
