Paragraph flow, verb inversion and last sentence tone I agree with you on 1: it should be that I was able.... The dummy subject it points forward to the that clause, which is just like any other that clause as regards inversion. The writer was probably confused by only; if it had been Only when... (no It was), then was I able would be main clause and the inversion caused by only would have been warranted. |

Please advise on this comma among semi-colons and provide a more concise sentence I think this question belongs on Writers.stackexchange.com : it says in our FAQ that proofreading sentences is off topic. // That comma after and is definitely wrong; better leave it out. |

What style suggestions are common for which words are used in hyperlinks? +1 for suggesting that explicit links in brackets can be useful in certain situations. I'd give another +1 for linking the full sentence/clause: as long as there is enough non-linked space separating it from other links, and as long as the link accurately describes what's behind it, full clauses are usually most convenient, especially for scanning readers. |

What style suggestions are common for which words are used in hyperlinks? +1, especially for "what users skimming will notice", a very important point. |

Should I translate my own writings into a second language I also know well? One thing to consider, though, might be the cost of having a professional translator translate your entire book. That should cost thousands upon thousands of Euros. But I agree that it would probably result in a much higher quality. |
