How to refer to character of focus in a story I don't think this is always the best advice. Following a rule like this will make your writing feel stiff. First, strive for clarity, and second, variety to keep things interesting. |

What can I earn as a technical writer or technical editor? I've not been fortunate enough to be in the right niche! I've consistently found that the pay as a programmer or developer is much higher than that of a tech author or editor, at least in my areas of expertise. |

Help write a book review, please I'd probably stick with page count, but either is good. :) |

What are some ways to denote presentation style outside of written text. Likely the difference is that with the tech books I've written there's such a lot of formatting, and of different types, that it is better addressed by having multiple styles in the initial document. I wish I could get by with comments! |

What are some ways to denote presentation style outside of written text. Publishers, at least of technical and how-to guides, typically provide you with a template with specific styles for various call outs, etc. As you work, you choose the correct style. The document looks nothing like the finished product, but it does have the styles designated for easy replacement. You could create your own MS styles. Here's a page that describes how the process works: wiley.com/WileyCDA/Section/id-301879.html |

What are some ways to denote presentation style outside of written text. I've never been asked by a publisher to use comments to mark formatting. Every publisher I've worked with has provided templates with specific styling for such things. |

What are some ways to denote presentation style outside of written text. I'm forced to address everything I've highlighted because, well, the book's in black and white. :) |

Why does using this “-ing” verb construction make my writing weaker? Maybe we can all agree to quit "liking" those ings so much. I blame McDonalds. |

Publishing and selling ebooks You'd be amazed at how little editing some of my books have received from traditional publishers. Lucky me. One publisher you've all heard of that I've worked with even tries to make authors pay for indexing services. |

Publishing and selling ebooks This is an incredibly broad question. Would be much better if broken down into sub questions. Also, a nod to genre might be good. I suspect a nonfiction book on a specific, popular topic might be more successful than say a romance novel. |

An alternative to saying 'users' when describing features Nice approach! (Although poor Julie, who was teased incessantly about her last name in grade school, might not agree.) |
