I must be truthful to the first page.

@Jen is it revealed only when the doctor comes to this realization. He is sick because he thinks he is healthy. When he realises he is sick, he is automatically cured (is hard to explain in few words).

Thanks I think I decided to try your suggestions (at least in my novel, the boy doesn't get back the girl).
