I'm a Microsoft Software Development Engineer on the Trustworthy Computing Team. I've worked at several security related places previously, including Malware Bytes and PreEmptive Solutions.
On StackOverflow I mostly answer c++ related questions, though I occasionally forray into c# and a couple of others.
I am the author of pevFind, a component of the ComboFix malware removal tool, and volunteer at BleepingComputer.com as a malware response instructor. My Twitter account is @MalwareMinigun.

Do thesis statements make sense? @Ralph: Ah, I see in the FAQ now. I thought subjective questions were okay here. Flagged for closing myself. |

Are there good tips on being a better *creative* writer? +1 - Hmm... what if the author I'd like to emulate is flawless? :P |

Are there good tips on being a better *creative* writer? Hmm.. not a bad answer, but not exactly what I'm looking for. Perhaps I wrote the question poorly. What I mean is that (for example) I have an idea for a book. But I don't know how to effectively develop a plot or a character. I have the idea, but I don't have the "story craftsmanship". When I say "creative writer" I mean "writer, but not literary or scholarly or technical", I mean "writer, of what might be called 'commercial fiction'". |

Are there good tips on being a better *creative* writer? @justkt: Every such course I've ever taken doesn't talk about the story; they talk about the language the story uses, and then try to claim the author is always saying something completely different than what they're actually saying. (Example: Color X is symbolic to Idea/Object Y) They've never said one word about developing a character, or writing a story. For that matter they never asked us, the students, to write a story at all -- only read others'. That all said, that was before I came to Case; it might be different. But I don't want to waste an entire class slot if I'm not sure. |

Is touch typing skill important for being a good writer? Do yourself a favor -- get yourself a good mechanical keyboard, and learn to touch type :) +1. |
