I am looking for the easiest way for one protagonist to kill another one. They are acquaintances and do spend some together drinking coffee or tea, so I was thinking poisoning would be the easiest solution.
When talking about "easy", I think the following criteria should be taken into consideration:

  1. How hard is it to get/make?
  2. How much does it cost?
  3. How does it manifest itself?
  4. Is it traceable?

Murderer gets rid of the body, so factor 4. is not so important for my story. So far, I have thought of arsenic and potassium cyanide.

Do you know of any others? Is there some online resource where I could find out more about these things?

yeah, it's difficult to Google this stuff, isn't it? :) You don't want someone knocking on your door asking why you've been searching for how to poison someone easily. – Lauren Ipsum Jun 30 '12 at 14:24
You might also add: "5. How long does it take to kill them." – Tre Jun 30 '12 at 15:05

I'm afraid that research questions such as this are off-topic here, as decided by the community. Closing. Can anyone think of a good place Maggie can ask this? – Neil Fein Jun 30 '12 at 15:17

@NeilFein: pharma.stackexchange.com? – John Smithers Jun 30 '12 at 15:26

Maybe someone should propose poisoners.stackexchange.com? Although I have found you can google how to make Sarin without any trouble. – Schroedingers Cat Jul 2 '12 at 14:20
